Our golden shallots are naturally grown in Teesdale, Victoria. Sweeter and milder than onions but not as pungent as garlic, shallots are mostly round, tasty specimens with golden brown skins.

Usage
Golden shallots are commonly used in Asian cooking, also in stews and on pastry tarts such as a pisaldiere, quiche and flan. Other recipe ideas:
- Caramelised and added to pizza as the hero with parmesan, oregano and pine nuts
- Roasted whole and served with roast potates
- Chopped, mixed with feta cheese and thyme and stuffed into large whole mushrooms and then baked
- Add to soups for extra sweetness.
Golden Shallot Storage
Medium: a golden shallot bulb is very firm and suitable for medium term storage up to 6 months in cool, dry conditions. Do not store in the fridge. Storage in brown paper lunch bags with holes punched in them with a hole punch is recommended by onemillionwomen.com.au.
