Golden Plains Garlic
Naturally grown Australian garlic is beautiful when it’s fresh.
We grow our garlic organically, without the use of chemical pesticides, herbicides or fertilisers. Our garlic patch on the family farm at Teesdale, Victoria has grazed sheep now and then for the last 40+ years. In 2021, as a family lockdown project we decided to grow garlic. Our first season was a great success and we sold an abundance of flavourful and fresh Aussie garlic.
We’ve had fantastic support from local groups and recommend pre-ordering in Dec-Jan. We’re now planning our third crop!
Our Story
2021 was a challenging year for most of us. Between lockdowns we decided to occupy ourselves on the weekends with a little agriculture project on the family farm.
Garlic was the produce of choice, because well, it’s popular and we use a lot of it! The whole family got involved with preparing and sweetening the soil, fertilising it with chicken and sheep manure and liquid seaweed and then planting cloves by hand. Our pre-teen and teenage children helped plant, water, weed and mow and their grandparents supervised the crop’s progress daily.

Our fresh Australian garlic is sold by weight, in plaits, or in gift or variety boxes. We offer several varieties including pink, purple, white and Italian Late, as well as golden shallots.
Garlic scapes are also available in November-December for 2 weeks but you must pre-order with 2 weeks notice.
Garlic Planting Packs
Our planting packs are available in several hardneck varieties. Plant in May-June and harvest in December (for Victorian climates – it may vary some in other locations).
